abstract = "The Brazilian forest code of 1965 established native vegetation on
the banks of rivers and lakes should be preserved. There was then
a need to review and adapt the 1965 law to a new reality, being
created the law number 12727, on October 17, 2012 establishing the
General rules for the preservation of vegetation in areas of
permanent preservation (APPs). Objective this work was to analyze,
quantify and map land use conflicts in the APP, under Uraim River
basin, located in the municipality of Paragominas, through remote
sensing techniques and GIS. To obtain and analyze the data we used
Landsat satellite image sensor 8 OLI and TIR (Operational Earth
Imager and Infrared thermal Sensor) and Shuttle Radar Topography
Mission imagery-SRTM for delimitation of the watershed. Through
superimposition of maps the APPs and the classes of use and
coverage Earth, the areas of misuse as exposed soil,
agriculture/reforestation and pasture, areas of possible shifts.
The forest code sets specific rules for the recomposition of these
areas. It was found that 207 properties (49%), with Rural
Environmental Record (CAR), improper use of the land. One of the
main forms of land use in the Uraim River basin highlights the
presence of pastureland, occupying about 27%. Uraim River basin,
about 29% of the areas destined for permanent preservation are
legally employed inappropriately, being occupied mostly by
pastures.",
